Sumario:Dental trauma is highly prevalent among children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), making it essential for parents to be informed and capable of implementing appropriate and immediate practices in such emergency situations. As the primary caregivers, parents play a crucial role in the initial response to these incidents. However, it is important to emphasize that professional dental follow-up is necessary after the emergency. To assess parents’ attitudes and knowledge regarding dental avulsions in children, a descriptive cross-sectional observational study was conducted. Surveys were administered to parents of children with ASD. The results indicated that 90.9% of parents would take their child to the dentist in the event of a dental avulsion. Nevertheless, 83.1% had not received information on how to act in such cases; among those who had received guidance, 90.0% reported having obtained it from a dentist. In conclusion, the majority of parents (67.8%) exhibited an unfavorable attitude toward the management of dental avulsions, and the practices followed by parents whose children had experienced such trauma were inadequate in a high percentage of cases (92.9%). It is therefore recommended that educational campaigns be implementedto raise public awareness on how to manage dental avulsion emergencies.
