Sumario:In the context of growing social inequality that has prevailed for decades in Latin America, urban and rural land production processes have generated increasingly vulnerable and fragmented territories. Far from providing solutions, academic architectural training continues to reproduce traditional and partial approaches, inadequate for addressing current habitat problems. However, some sectors have theorized and worked to address this problem and construct responses to basic needs. Within this framework, this work seeks to contribute to the construction of a technical and political repositioning of the role of architecture, reviewing the social and production relations established in this field. To this end, the concept of popular and critical architecture and its methodologies are developed, seeking to develop a reflective praxis for the practice of the profession.
