First, I present your initial hypotheses on the genre, highlighting the main theoretical contributions. In this way, I reflect on the place of the fantastic in our peripheral modernity. Then, I comment on the reformulations that expand the limits of generic definitions and investigate the semiotic and political potentialities of fantastic narrative in the present. Without claiming to be exhaustive, this article exposes the complexity of the approaches outlined by Pampa Arán and the intertwined theoretical articulations that constitute a perspective for the critical reading of a corpus composed of canonical texts of Argentine literature and aesthetic proposals of contemporary narrative. El artículo propone una lectura de los textos teóricos y críticos de Pampa Arán sobre la narrativa fantástica. En un primer momento, expongo sus hipótesis iniciales acerca del género, destacando los principales aportes teóricos que desarrolló. En este sentido, reflexiono sobre el papel del fantástico en nuestra modernidad periférica. En una segunda instancia, comento las reformulaciones que expanden los límites de las definiciones genéricas e indagan las potencialidades semióticas y políticas de la narrativa fantástica en el presente. Sin pretensiones de exhaustividad, este artículo expone la complejidad de los planteos esbozados por Pampa Arán y las imbricadas articulaciones teóricas que constituyen una perspectiva singular para la lectura crítica de un corpus que abarca tanto los textos canónicos del fantástico rioplatense como propuestas estéticas de la narrativa contemporánea.
