Sumario:This article proposes an approach to the narrative of Mario Castells, focusing on the representations of the Guaraní language that it stages. The hypothesis that guides the work argues that in the novels El mosto y la queresa (2012) and Apparatchikis (2017) it is possible to observe the double inflection that has marked the use of Guaraní, both in Paraguay and in the diaspora. If, on the one hand, we find the representation of the nationalist-military character of the use of the language transcended by a diglossia that subordinates it to Spanish; on the other hand, we find other representations in which the use of Guaraní subverts the diglossia through the staging of situations in which the protagonists display a know-how based on the use of the language, that allows them to rise. This second inflection is part of the linguistic-literary programme of which the author becomes a representative.
