Nevertheless, later historians studied his actions from various points of view: some described him as a savage bandit, while others positioned him as a hero with national relevance. This article recovers the visions of Manuel Florencio Mantilla, Hernán Félix Gómez and the perspective of the Board of Historical Studies of Misiones. Based on historiographic analysis, we seek to highlight the tensions that exist in the dispute over the construction of a vision of the past. Andrés Guacurarí tuvo una importante participación política y militar durante la segunda década del siglo XIX en los territorios que anteriormente conformaban las Misiones Jesuíticas de Guaraníes. Los historiadores estudiaron su accionar desde diversos puntos de vista: algunos lo describieron como un bandido salvaje, mientras que otros lo posicionaron como un prócer con relevancia nacional. En este artículo se recuperan las visiones de Manuel Florencio Mantilla, Hernán Félix Gómez y la perspectiva de la Junta de Estudios Históricos de Misiones.
