Sumario:Given the influence of physical inactivity in morbimortality due to cardiovascular diseases, this paper aims: a) to assess, for a recent period, the impact of physical inactivity on mortality due to cardiovascular diseases in adults from Argentina by region, sex and age; and b) to estimate how much this impact reflects on population lifespan. Based on official statistics, sociodemographic indicators were calculated and analysed. The results revealed, at national level, a greater mortality excess due to the causes referred in men, a higher participation of deaths associated in young populations and rising mortality rates with age. In addition, there were differences at regional level: the Central region reproduced the country situation, the Cuyo region showed the worst indicators and the Northeast presented an atypical behaviour comparing with the rest of the regions. That supposes to take different actions on the territory, according to each population characteristics.
