Given that the literature on the effects of pre-electoral coalitions is still incipient, this article explores its relationship with electoral participation and alternation. Through the analysis of electoral indicators, divergent results are reached around the stated premises, where coalitions records do not present significance regarding electoral participation, while alternation does seem to be related with the coalitionist conditions that express competitiveness. Si bien se sabe que la ocurrencia de alianzas electorales reduce las opciones de voto y predetermina la toma de decisiones delelector, los resultados de los comicios donde median coaliciones se traducen también en otros indicadores electorales. En virtudde que la literatura sobre los efectos de las alianzas electorales es aún incipiente, en este artículo se explora su relación con laparticipación electoral y la alternancia. A través del análisis de indicadores electorales se llega a resultados divergentes en torno a las premisas contrastadas, donde los registros aliancistas no presentan significancia en los pormenores de la participación electoral, mientras la alternancia sí parece relacionarse con las condiciones aliancistas que expresan competitividad.
