| Sumario: | The present study offers an up to date inventory of the mammals of Rio Pilcomayo National Park. where 62 species of native mammals and 2 species of exotic mammals have been registered. The local extinction of the marsh deer (Blastóceras dichotomus) has been confirmed and the probable presence of three other species has been detected. The communities are described in relation to environmental units. and the situation of the 24 species with conscrvation priority inside the Park is analysed. Five (5) new species are cited for the Province of Formosa as well as the probable presence of a new subspecies for Argentina that is at present only found in the marginal forests of the National Park. |
