Sumario:In 2019, national regulations were established in Argentinato regulate the use of products derived from the organic fraction of waste: compost and amendments produced by anaerobic digestion. This regulatory change opens a window of opportunity to promote the recycling of these products, as they represent around 50% of the total urban waste generated in the country. Based on this, this article aims to identify challenges for the sustainable management of these products at different scales through three case studies within the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires: a mega-city, a medium-sized municipality, and a university cafeteria. Despite the differences between the cases, the importance of generating and systematizingspecific data on waste generation and treatment, public awareness, waste traceability, and especially public  consciousness, is observed.
