UCAL established a large regional company that ventured into financial issues and the export business. The objective of this work is to analyze the institutional trajectory of UCAL during a period of 50 years, during which macroeconomic policies changed, generating major transformations in the institution.  La Unión de Cooperativas Agrícola Algodoneras Limitada surgió en 1934 y como consecuencias de diversas causas: crisis del año treinta, huelga algodonera del Chaco, entre otras. Fue la principal institución de referencia de la región por más de 50 años. Se desarrolló vinculada íntimamente a la producción algodonera y apostó a su industrialización. UCAL, constituyó una gran empresa regional que incursionó en cuestiones financieras y el negocio de la exportación.
