Sumario:The article explores in an articulated manner current writings and images that address the representation of an Amerindian corporeality, especially that of Guarani women, within the cultural region of the Gran Chaco Suramericano, in contrast to the statuesque way of presenting them since colonial times. Three novels, a photographic project and an installation are taken into consideration: 1. Marina Closs’s La despoblación (2022), “Cuñataí o de la virginidad” (in Tres Truenos, 2019) and Alvar Núñez. Trabajos de sed y hambre (2019); 2. Guadalupe Miles’s Chaco (2001/2003), a portrait of the Chaco salteño; 3. Claudia Cassarino’s Corollas (2019).
