La narrativa de Sally Rooney, enmarcada dentro del periodo Post-Celtic Tiger irlandés, es representativa de una reciente generación de escritores cuyas novelas experimentan con la forma y el contenido para dar voz a la nueva identidad que se ha forjado dentro de la Irlanda recesionaria. Así, este artículo tiene como objetivos: en primer lugar, presentar a una nueva escritora dentro del campo literario global; en segundo lugar, mapear el trayecto de su discurso combativo en la reinvención de la novela romántica en sus países de traducción; y por último, señalar su toma de posición ante las problemáticas que expone en torno a la corporalidad, que es uno de los ejes vertebradores de sus novelas.
