The theoretical perspective recovers notions of the systemic model for the analysis of accidents that guide to observe the interactions between the conditions of the system and the behavior of the actors, also using tools from sociology and political theory. The method used consisted of a survey passing through different bus terminals in Argentina. The main conclusions support that the seat belt is valued as a safety element, but only a minority of people report that they always use it when traveling, influencing age and educational level. Users also perceive weak incentives from the transport system to use this security device. Este artículo presenta resultados de una investigación realizada por la Junta de Seguridad en el Transporte para conocer los determinantes de uso del cinturón de seguridad de las personas usuarias de los servicios regulares de ómnibus de larga distancia en Argentina. La perspectiva teórica recupera nociones del modelo sistémico para el análisis de accidentes que orienta a observar las interacciones entre las condiciones del sistema y el comportamiento de los actores, valiéndose también de herramientas provenientes de la sociología y la teoría política. El método utilizado consistió en una encuesta a pasajeras/os en distintas terminales de ómnibus de Argentina. Los principales hallazgos sostienen que el cinturón es valorado como un elemento de seguridad, pero que solo una porción minoritaria informa utilizarlo siempre al viajar, influyendo la edad y el nivel educativo. También que las personas usuarias perciben débiles incentivos por parte del sistema para utilizar este dispositivo de seguridad. Este artigo apresenta os resultados de uma investigação realizada pela Junta de Seguridad en el Transporte para compreender os determinantes do uso do cinto de segurança pelas pessoas que usam o serviço regular de ônibus de longa distância na Argentina. A perspectiva teórica recupera noções do modelo sistêmico de análise de acidentes que orientam a observar as interações entre as condições do sistema e o comportamento dos atores, utilizando também ferramentas da sociologia e da teoria política. O método utilizado consistiu em uma pesquisa passando por diferentes terminais rodoviários da Argentina. As principais conclusões sustentam que o cinto de segurança é valorizado como elemento de segurança, mas apenas uma minoria das pessoas refere que o utiliza sempre em viagem, sendo que a idade e o nível de escolaridade influenciam esta prática. Os usuários também percebem incentivos fracos do sistema de transporte para usar esse dispositivo de segurança. Universidad Nacional del Nordeste.
