The species composition, phytosociological structure and tree diversity of hygrophilous forest stands located in Puerto Valle, in the northeast of the Iberá wetland (Corrientes, Argentina), are described. The forest of Puerto Valle consists of 24 species with a monodominant formation of the “arary”, Calophyllum brasiliense (Calophyllaceae), as the main component. The floristic similarity between communities indicates complete dissimilarity between forest patches in Puerto Valle sites. Natural recruitment in Puerto Valle also showed a predominance of C. brasiliense, in line with the monodominant character of the species. Our results indicate a great spatial variability of the rain forests in the territorial matrix and reinforce the relict character of the forest with C. brasiliense in Argentina. Las selvas higrófilas son formaciones forestales de ambientes periódica o permanentemente anegados. Se describe la composición de especies, la estructura fitosociológica y la diversidad arbórea de sitios de selva higrófila situados en Puerto Valle, en el nordeste del humedal del Iberá, en Corrientes, Argentina. El bosque de Puerto Valle registra 24 especies y presenta una formación monodominante con el “arary”, Calophyllum brasiliense (Calophyllaceae), como principal componente. La disimilitud florística es completa al comparar la similitud florística entre las comunidades de parches boscosos de Puerto Valle. El reclutamiento natural en Puerto Valle presentó también predominio de C. brasiliense, reafirmando el carácter monodominante de la especie. Nuestros resultados indican una gran variabilidad espacial de las selvas higrófilas en la matriz territorial y refuerza el carácter relictual de la selva con C. brasiliense en la Argentina.
