Sumario:There is a significant difference between what is stated in theory about the content of informed consent and what is found in professional practice in various South American countries. Based on the analysis of the ten most relevant theoretical criteria, a brief model informed consent for dental professionals in Argentina was prepared, which includes the ten criteria considered most relevant by theory, in an inclusive, simple, and clear language to facilitate understanding. It is self-administered and can be read and completed in a few minutes. Although it is focused on Orthodontics, it can be easily adapted for other specialties and its use can be extended to other countries.
