Sumario:This research aims to identify through the written press the impacts of heat waves [HW] and cold waves [CW] occurred in Bahía Blanca in the 1961-2020 period on the urban environment, in terms of affectations, stakeholders, and actions taken in response. A two-step methodology was followed. The first step involved identifying the HW and CW dates using daily maximum and minimum tem-perature records provided by the National Meteorological Service [SMN]. Searching, systematizing, and analyzing local newspaper articles corresponding to the HW and CW dates was the second step. We could observe an increase in the relevance of topics related to HW and CW in the last two de-cades of analysis. The impact of HW in the urban environment was mainly related to energy supply and fire risk. A number of local sustainable development measures were proposed to reduce urban vulnerability to HW.
