Sumario:With the turn of the century, the issue of risks acquired relevance in the international and national political agenda when planning and managing the territory with a view to improving the living conditions of the population. The geographic focus in risk analysis shows socio-spatial inequalities and presents theoretical-methodological tools for their approach, which allow us to understand phenomena of natural and anthropogenic origin and, at the same time, presents empirical utility to face adverse consequences. The work focuses on the study of the spatial dimension of flood risk in the city of Luján (Buenos Aires, Argentina), regarding its current situation and future perspectives, through spatial analysis with Geographic Information Systems. The result is a risk mapping, whichmakes it possible to specifically identify four priority urban planning areas, with the highest risk levels and a tendency to expand over areas threatened by flooding. The results obtained become a fundamental tool to support spatial decision making in specific sectors of the study area.
