Sumario:The objective of this study is to analyze the morphometric characteristics of the Oro river basin, located in the east of the Chaco Province (Argentina), in order to contribute to the understanding of water dynamics and processes associated with flood hazards. To carry out this work, vector and raster data were integrated into a Geographic Information System [GIS] through which the morphometric parameters related to the shape, size, relief, topology and drainage network of the basin were calculated. The morphometric analysis carried out in the Oro river basin has allowed us to characterize it as a large, elongated basin, with very gentle slopes and low drainage density. These geomorphological conditions generate a slow runoff, without flash floods, and explain an attenuated hydrological response to precipitation events.
