Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México; México. Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956) fue, como sabemos –o deberíamos saber– un destacado escritor, dramaturgo y poeta alemán. También fue un comunista sin partido, que combatió sin tregua al nazismo instalado como poder en Alemania desde 1933. En ese mismo año, se vio forzado a un exilio que se prolongaría hasta 1949. En 1934, escribió un breve texto de especial valor para nuestro tiempo, titulado Las cinco dificultades para decir la verdad,2 en un mundo que se encaminaba hacia el terrible episodio final de la Gran Guerra de 1914-1945. Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956) was, as we know—or should know—a prominent German writer, playwright, and poet. He was also a non-party communist who relentlessly fought the Nazism that had taken hold in Germany since 1933. That same year, he was forced into exile, which lasted until 1949.
