The growing gap between education and society calls for reflection, especially, in the context of the major changes promoted in Uruguay, since 2023, through a curricular transformation. This curricular change is oriented toward a learning-centered paradigm, based on the development of competencies, seeking a closer connection between contemporary social demands and educational practices.This paper aims to conduct a documentary survey that allows for reflection on the need for curricular change in the initial teacher training educational model. This innovation is manifested in new pedagogical formats, the emergence of new teaching and learning contexts, and an indispensable redefinition of the role of students for the achievement of authentic centrality. La actualidad nos posiciona en contextos de cambio, el escenario mundial, en una sociedad megacognitiva, tecnológica, digital, multicultural y plural, caracterizada por la incertidumbre, los conflictos, los dilemas, las dudas, las divergencias y la mutabilidad. La creciente brecha entre la educación y la sociedad interpela a la reflexión, especialmente, en el contexto de los principales cambios impulsados en Uruguay, desde 2023, a través de una transformación curricular. Este cambio curricular se orienta hacia un paradigma centrado en el aprendizaje, basado en el desarrollo de competencias, el cual busca una mayor vinculación entre las demandas sociales contemporáneas y las prácticas educativas. Este escrito tiene por objetivo realizar un relevamiento documental que permita reflexionar acerca de la necesidad de un cambio curricular en el modelo educativo de formación docente inicial. Esta innovación se manifiesta en nuevos formatos pedagógicos, el surgimiento de nuevos contextos de enseñanza y de aprendizaje y una indispensable redefinición del lugar de los estudiantes para el logro de una centralidad auténtica.
