description En 2006 se dictó la ley 26.206, que en su artículo 16 establece la obligatoriedad escolar entre los cinco años y el fin del ciclo secundario, es decir lleva a 13 años el período de obligatoriedad escolar. Recordemos que la antigua ley 1.420, dictada en 1884, había establecido la obligatoriedad únicamente para la enseñanza primaria. Esta nueva disposición legal marcó un significativo avance, ya que la extensión de la escolaridad obligatoria es claramente un paso positivo hacia el fortalecimiento del proceso educativo y la promoción de la igualdad de oportunidades, sin distinción de niveles socioeconómicos familiares.
