Sumario:This article analyses the relationship between Internet, social capital and democracy. It suggests that the convergence of the Internet, especially Web 2.0, and mobile phone allows the formation of virtual communities and social networks, produces new citizenship practices and social capital and as a whole represents a logical continuity with civil associations which founded the first democratic societies. As empirical validation it presents the case study of the online communication of NGOs in Argentina, as an alternative channel for the reconstruction of a democratic society.
