description Abstract: This paper aimed at examining Qo 11,6–6 in order to ascertain the literary and rhetorical features of the unit and its single subunits with a particular look at Qo 11,1–2. After having reviewed the various solutions put forth for this subunit, my own will try to read it against the background of Hellenistic evergetism. A close examination of the rest of the unit will follow for showing as Qohelet calls man to work in the present time in spite of the ignorance about the outcome of the action and of the “right time” set by God.
