Sumario: | Introducción: In what follows I will present an interpretation of Saint Augustine’s De doctrina christiana in conversation with Paul Ricoeur’s philosophical hermeneutics. In order to do so, I will divide the essay in three sections. First, I will briefly examine Ricoeur’s conception of religious language, paying particular attention to his account of the Bible. Second, I will interpret Augustine’s scriptural hermeneutics in De doctrina christiana focused in his understanding of what we can call God’s rhetoric. Finally, I will conclude with a balance of both positions defending the fruitfulness of their dialogue, but also the uniqueness of Augustine’s exegesis. |
