This paper aims at studying some typological and technological aspects of the manufacture of this pottery, as well as its spatial distribution. An analysis of these issues may give a clue for a better interpretation of the Negevite wares and may help in gaining some insight into the socioeconomic framework that conditioned their producers. Based on ethnographic parallels, it is suggested that production of Negevite pottery was made in pastoral households for their own demand, and that its geographical distribution is a consequence of the movements of pastoral groups.
