The province had rebelled on the 31st March 1843, led by the brothers Joaquín and Juan Madariaga, who proclaimed “THE UPRISING OF THE FREE PEOPLE” - La Revolución de los Libres. After a failed attempt to invade Entre Ríos, General Paz was assigned the direction of the forces to wage the war against Rosas. General José María Paz combined war and diplomatic activities in search for allied support to oppose the dictator in times of the Franco-British blockade of the River Plate. Considering the results had not come up to the expectations, the military man from Córdoba was discharged from his duties in the direction of the forces of the opposition. The objective of this paper is to research this period, in an effort to throw more light on this obscure stage in the life of the unitary general. 2023-06-14T11:38:04Z 2023-06-14T11:38:04Z 2004 Artículo Poenitz, G.
