| Sumario: | Abstract: This article explores the dynamics in the Spanish Chilean relations during
the Christian Democrats’ administration (1964-1970). Through official
documents’ analysis, the article explores the influence that political
development left on the Spanish diplomatic body posted in Chile at that
time. This imprint will reveal essentially the struggle between pragmatism
and ideology, particularly in the fragility of the parties system’s equilibrium,
and the country’s ideal, a common debate in the sixties’ context. Furthermore,
it is presented as another example of what the interrelation between Spain
and Chile has been since 1936, at their national and international level,
particularly in the way that the Spanish evolution trough those years influenced
the Chilean political development until today. |
