Through official documents’ analysis, the article explores the influence that political development left on the Spanish diplomatic body posted in Chile at that time. This imprint will reveal essentially the struggle between pragmatism and ideology, particularly in the fragility of the parties system’s equilibrium, and the country’s ideal, a common debate in the sixties’ context.
