Its use constitutes a projection of a historical sequence mainly based in the political history of Ancient Egypt. However, there are no sociopolitical parameters beyond the boundaries of the communities at that time. These communities have to be the point of departure for the analysis of the Nile Valley’s sociopolitical situation before the state. Funerary practices and iconographic testimonies show some indications of social differentiation, probably including the existence of communal elites and some kind of leadership. Besides, different social ambits –related to economical, ideological and warlike practices– also allow supposing the presence of leaders. This kind of evidence seems to fit well with the anthropological concept of chiefdom societies. Resumen: Partamos de una constatación habitual. Cuando se considera cualquier cronología promedio de la historia del Antiguo Egipto, ésta aparece parcelada en grandes períodos –Reino Antiguo, Medio, Nuevo, etc., con sus consecuentes Períodos Intermedios–, cada uno de los cuales presenta alguna homogeneidad, que procede principalmente del hecho de que se trata de épocas de centralización o descentralización estatal. Las subdivisiones de tales épocas suele ser establecida en términos de las dinastías manetonianas, las cuales periodizan en función de secuencias de reyes. Más allá de las ventajas y problemas que puede comportar este tipo de periodizaciones, lo que importa destacar aquí es que el criterio central a partir del cual se establecen las diversas épocas remite básicamente a la historia política que aconteció en el valle del Nilo en tiempos antiguos. 2021-07-01T17:08:07Z 2021-07-01T17:08:07Z 2003 Artículo Campagno, M.
