DISRUPTION IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: HOW CHINA IS REDEFINING GLOBAL TECHNOLOGICAL COMPETITION
China’s rapid progress in artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the landscape of global technological innovation and accessibility. Models like DeepSeek have demonstrated that high-performance AI can be developed at a fraction of the cost incurred by major Western tech companies. This efficiency...

Models like DeepSeek have demonstrated that high-performance AI can be developed at a fraction of the cost incurred by major Western tech companies. This efficiency, coupled with the open-source nature of some models, could democratize AI access, enabling its integration into sectors such as micro-retail and microenterprise ecosystems. This paper analyzes how China has optimized AI development with lower investment in hardware and training, making adoption feasible in traditionally excluded sectors. It explores the implications for micro-retail, from operational optimization to personalized services using affordable AI tools. As efficient and open AI models become more available, access to artificial intelligence may emerge as a critical factor for the competitiveness of small businesses and entrepreneurs. This study discusses how these trends may reshape retail and the global digital economy. 2025-09-18T12:46:06Z 2025-09-18T12:46:06Z 2025-04 Ponencia en congreso https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14769/5040 https://doi.org/10.64814/043340yeulps en application/pdf Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA) |
