description Introduction: This research is the result of the tried to identify how the identity formation of literacy teachers influences teaching practice, performing an interface between identity studies and professional practice. Methodology: For this, we conducted a quali-quantitative research in 03 schools in the city of Itabuna, Brazil, in which teachers were observed in their work environment and invited through semi-structured questionnaires to share their ideas and experiences about teaching, and their biographies and identity formations. Theoretical reference: This research was based on the aegis of Applied Linguistics and psychoanalysis, focused on literacy practices and it was based on Hall (2011), Giddens (2002) and Lacan (1962/2003) in identity studies, Coracini (2007) and Moita Lopes (2002) at the interface between applied linguistics, identity and education, Tardif (2007) in teaching issues and Mainardes (2009) in the foundations on the Childhood Cycle. Results: As a results, it was observed that the teachers' identity formations are in the teaching practice, in the choice of the material used, in the beliefs and attitudes of the teachers, in the organization of the school environment and in the knowledge transmitted to the students through discourses that bring identifying elements. Final considerations: We conclude through the analysis of these data, that aspects of the teacher's personal identity permeate educational practice, bringing significant subjective elements to the teaching process.
