| Sumario: | Several disciplines in the social and human sciences have developed an interest in narratives which is based on what they can reveal about the "way humans make sense of the world" (Johnstone 2016, 548). The book by Isolda E. Carranza that I hereby review, Narrativas interaccionales. Una mirada sociolingüística a la actividad de narrar en encuentros sociales, differs from other studies of this topic in that it avoids focusing on narratives as textual products in isolation from their context and produced by an autonomous narrator; instead, here narratives are conceived as the product of a joint activity that the interactants carry out under the influence of the material, situational and institutional conditions of the face-to-face encounters in which they narrate. |
