Una mirada sociolingüística a la actividad de narrar en encuentros sociales, differs from other studies of this topic in that it avoids focusing on narratives as textual products in isolation from their context and produced by an autonomous narrator; instead, here narratives are conceived as the product of a joint activity that the interactants carry out under the influence of the material, situational and institutional conditions of the face-to-face encounters in which they narrate.   En diversas disciplinas del campo de las ciencias sociales y humanas, el interés por la narrativa se ha fundamentado en aquello que esta puede revelar acerca de “la manera en la que los humanos le encuentran sentido al mundo” (Johnstone 2016, 548). La obra de Isolda E. Carranza que aquí reseño, Narrativas interaccionales. Una mirada sociolingüística a la actividad de narrar en encuentros sociales, se distingue de otros estudios sobre la temática por evitar poner el foco de atención en la narrativa como un producto textual aislado de su contexto y producido por un narrador autónomo; aquí se concibe la narrativa como el producto de una actividad conjunta que llevan a cabo los interactuantes influidos por las condiciones materiales, situacionales e institucionales de los encuentros cara a cara en los que se narra.
