Based on data collected through focused ethnography, the biopsychosocial perspective and the model of social determinants in health is used to access subjectivities that are anchored to the specificities of the territory of study. The results obtained reveal the importance of the barriers and facilitators present in the environment, personal factors and social determinants in health in the perceptions of social exclusion and, therefore, of inclusion of the individuals interviewed. Este artículo busca comprender cómo se conforman las percepciones de exclusión social en personas mayores en situación de discapacidad motriz que habitan en la provincia de Copiapó de la región de Atacama, en Chile. A partir de datos recabados por medio de una etnografía enfocada, se emplea la perspectiva biopsicosocial y el modelo de los determinantes sociales en salud para acceder a subjetividades que se anclan a las especificidades del territorio de estudio. Los resultados obtenidos revelan la importancia que tienen las barreras y los facilitadores presentes en el ambiente, los factores personales y los determinantes sociales en salud en las percepciones de exclusión social y, por ende, de inclusión de los individuos entrevistados. Este artigo procura entender como as percepções de exclusão social são moldadas nas pessoas idosas com deficiência motora que vivem na província de Copiapó, na região do Atacama, no Chile. Com base em dados recolhidos através da etnografia focalizada, a perspectiva biopsicossocial e o modelo de determinantes sociais em saúde é utilizada para aceder a subjetividades que estão ancoradas nas especificidades do território de estudo. Os resultados obtidos revelam a importância das barreiras e dos facilitadores presentes no ambiente, dos fatores pessoais e dos determinantes sociais da saúde na percepção da exclusão social e, portanto, da inclusão dos indivíduos entrevistados.
