description This article stems from a dialogue surrounding our current ethnographic research at the Provincial Memory Archive of Córdoba (APM) in Argentina. Although our subjects of study and research documents are different, we have found points of connection that have enabled us to write this collaborative piece. Thus, we are interested in exploring how, at present, the documents and archives to which they belong enable various uses and questions, focusing on the question of how identity is constructed from various documentary records, particularly those relating to people who disappeared or were murdered during the country’s last dictatorship (1976-1983). Through a comparative reading of both corpora, we aim to bring our objects of study closer to the reader, engage them in dialogue, and reflect on issues that we consider fundamental, such as the dimensions of inquiry that these documents in the APM enable today, the ethical implications of their use, and the way in which identities are constructed from them.

El artículo surge del diálogo en torno a nuestras investigaciones etnográficas desarrolladas actualmente en el Archivo Provincial de la Memoria de Córdoba, Argentina. A pesar de que nuestros objetos de estudio y documentos de indagación son distintos, encontramos puntos de conexión que permiten realizar esta escritura colaborativa. Así, nos interesa centrarnos en explorar el modo en el que, en la actualidad, los documentos y los archivos a los que pertenecen habilitan diversos usos e interrogantes, focalizando en la pregunta por las formas en las que se construye identidad a partir de diversos registros documentales, particularmente en torno a personas desaparecidas o asesinadas en la última dictadura del país (1976-1983). Mediante una lectura comparativa de ambos corpus, pretendemos acercar al lector nuestros objetos de estudio, ponerlos en diálogo y reflexionar sobre cuestiones que consideramos fundamentales como las dimensiones de indagación que posibilitan hoy esos documentos en el APM, las implicancias éticas que generan esos usos y el modo en que se construyen identidades a partir de ellas. O artigo surge do diálogo em torno de nossas pesquisas etnográficas atualmente desenvolvidas no Arquivo Provincial da Memória de Córdoba (APM), Argentina. Embora nossos objetos de estudo e documentos de investigação sejam diferentes, encontramos pontos de conexão que permitem realizar esta escrita colaborativa. Assim, nos interessa explorar a maneira como, atualmente, os documentos e os arquivos aos quais pertencem possibilitam diversos usos e questionamentos. Com foco na questão das formas como se constrói a identidade a partir de diversos registros documentais, particularmente em torno de pessoas desaparecidas ou assassinadas durante a última ditadura do país (1976-1983). Por meio de uma leitura comparativa de ambos os registros, pretendemos aproximar o leitor de nossos objetos de estudo, colocá-los em diálogo e refletir sobre questões que consideramos fundamentais, como as dimensões de investigação que esses documentos possibilitam hoje na APM, as implicações éticas que esses usos geram e a forma como as identidades são construídas a partir deles.
