As a result, they can be considered ritual funerary offerings that are not related with Christian tradition but could be some reminiscence linked to rituals concerning mummified animals from pharaonic tradition. La excavación de la cripta funeraria del período cristiano bizantino n. 1 del Sector 29 en la Necrópolis Alta de Oxirrinco (Minia, Egipto) ha permitido registrar algunos depósitos faunísti-cos que difieren formal y conceptualmente de los depósitos habituales de productos alimentarios y que no forman parte de la dieta habitual de la ciudad. En consecuencia, se consideran ofrendas rituales que enlazan con la tradición faraónica consistente en el depósito de animales momificados.
