In the case of women, it meant an intensified burden of the unpaid care work they usually carry out. This article addresses the youth trajectories of women from low-income sector in a particular historical context. Their educational trajectories and the institutional and family supports they rely on are analyzed. The results of a qualitative research carried out in 2021 with mothers between 20 and 29 years of age living in marginalized neighborhoods of the Municipality of Avellaneda are presented. The life stories of the young women are presented and, at the end, some reflections are sketched in order to continue the reflection on the future inaugurated by the pandemic. The conclusions point out the relevance of the expansion of public care systems that constitute development environments for children while contributing to recover autonomy, availability of time and space for young mothers.
