Either as spatial justice or territorial justice depending on the historical and linguistic context of discussion, this paper analyzes the terminology adopted and puts into question the recent use of spatial justice as the concept to theorize the geographical dimension of injustices. From a Latin American perspective, we seek to validate its suitability, relevance and the reasons for this global preference. Through a historical and genealogical review, we explore the suitability of territorial justice and the possible complementarities with spatial justice, and how they may be eventually intertwined.. To conclude, we argue that both spatial justice and territorial justice are useful to face ethical and political challenges, each one for specific scalar, community, relational and temporal dimensions. En la década de los setenta comenzó a debatirse sobre la relación entre la justicia y el espacio. El fruto de esta reflexión se ha expandido y traducido mayormente como justicia espacial o justicia territorial. El uso de uno u otro concepto ha dependido de la época y del idioma en el que se expresaba. Este artículo profundiza en la terminología adoptada y cuestiona el término “justicia espacial”, que se ha popularizado y privilegiado en los últimos años para teorizar sobre la dimensión geográfica de las injusticias. Desde una perspectiva latinoamericana, se busca validar su adecuación a esta realidad y plantearse su pertinencia y las razones detrás de esta preferencia global. A través de un repaso histórico y genealógico, se explora la idoneidad de la “justicia territorial” y las posibles complementariedades con la “justicia espacial”, y cómo se entreveran eventualmente. Para concluir, se defiende que tanto la justicia espacial como la justicia territorial son útiles para afrontar los desafíos éticos y políticos, cada uno para unas dimensiones escalares, comunitarias, relacionales y temporales concretas.
