His aim was to adapt Greek logical terminology to the Arabic language and to anchor it in its culture. One such work is entitled Kitāb al-alfāẓ al-musta'mala fī l-manṭiq (Utterances employed in Logic). Here I will outline the contents of the book and note some of the issues raised in it. Al-Fārābī fue el primer filósofo del mundo musulmán interesado en la lógica y del que han permanecido bastantes obras lógicas. En varias de ellas plantea el problema de la relación entre lógica y gramática, debatido en su época entre lógicos y gramáticos. Con ello busca adaptar la terminología lógica griega a la lengua árabe y asentarla firmemente en su cultura. Una de esas obras es la titulada Kitāb al-alfāẓ al-musta‘mala fī l-manṭiq (Libro de los términos empleados en lógica). Esbozaré aquí una exposición del contenido del libro y apuntaré algunas de las cuestiones planteadas en él.
