In this regard, the analysis in notlimited to the regulatory and institutional orientations adopted by the state authorities, but also extends to the daily duties of these judges. This article studies the administrative plots in which these justices of the peace were involved, their communications with different social agents such as police chiefs, political leaders and first instance judges, the composition of the courts, such as lieutenants and other aid personnel, as well as the dynamic and the materiality which they have developed in the performance of their duties. El artículo examina el funcionamiento de los juzgados de paz urbanos de la ciudad de Rosario entre 1854 y 1872. Se muestra que estos juzgados tuvieron un papel central en el proceso de reordenamiento político-institucional que buscaba acercar los ámbitos de justicia a la población. En este sentido, el análisis no se ciñe a las orientaciones normativas e institucionales adoptadas por las autoridades del estado sino que atiende, al mismo tiempo, al quehacer cotidiano de los diferentes agentes sociales. Se estudian las tramas administrativas en que se hallaban insertos los jueces de paz y sus comunicaciones con diferentes agentes sociales -jefes de policía, jefes políticos, jueces de primera instancia-, la composición de los juzgados -tenientes y demás auxiliares- y la dinámica y la materialidad en que se desenvolvieron en el ejercicio de sus funciones. Este artigo examina o funcionamento dos tribunais de justiça urbanos da cidade de Rosário entre 1854 e 1872. Mostra que esses tribunais desempenharam um papel central no processo de reorganização política e institucional que buscava aproximar as esferas da justiça da população. Nesse sentido, a análise não se limita às orientações normativas e institucionais adotadas pelas autoridades estatais, mas também aborda o trabalho cotidiano dos diferentes agentes sociais. O artigo estuda as estruturas administrativas nas quais os juízes de paz estavam inseridos e suas comunicações com diferentes agentes sociais -chefes de polícia, líderes políticos, juízes de primeira instância-, a composição dos tribunais -tenentes e outros assistentes- e a dinâmica e materialidade em que se desenvolveram no exercício de suas funções.
