However the occasional mention of some objects blonging to the European material culture or their rock art, found mainly in indigenous pre-Hispanics sites is an exception. Based on contemporary research and study of collections and/or archaeological remains of the period embracing the first contact situations until the establishment of the colonial system in the region new hypothesis and archaeological interpretations appeared. This together with approaches coming from Andean History, Ethnohistory and Art History have opened new lines of research regarding objects identified as mobile art and the meaning of their representations according to specific contexts of use proposed by archaeological records and documentary sources.   Actualmente y desde el punto de vista arqueológico, es poco lo que se conoce dobre el momento de contacto entre españoles e indígenas en la quebrada de Humahuaca. La excepción es la esporádica mención de elementos de la cultura material europea, o sus representaciones rupestres, hallados fundamentalmente en sitios prehispánicos. A partir de investigaciones contemporáneas y estudios basados en material de colecciones  y/o excavaciones pertenecientes al período que va desde los primeros contactos hispano-indígenas a la implementación del sistema colonial en la región han surgido nuevas hipótesis e interpretaciones arqueológicas. estas últimas junto con los aportes realizados por la Historia, la Etnohistoria y la Historia del Arte andinos brindan nuevos planteos sobre objetos identificados arqueológicamente como arte mobiliar y el posible significado de sus representaciones de acuerdo con los contextos de uso, o función, determinados por los registros arqueológicos y el estudios de la crónica de la época.  Atualmente, de uma perspectiva arqueológica, pouco se sabe sobre a época do contato entre espanhóis e indígenas na Quebrada de Humahuaca. A exceção é a menção esporádica de elementos da cultura material europeia, ou sua arte rupestre, encontrados principalmente em sítios pré-hispânicos. Novas hipóteses e interpretações arqueológicas emergiram de pesquisas e estudos contemporâneos baseados em material de coleções e/ou escavações pertencentes ao período dos primeiros contatos hispano-indígenas até a implementação do sistema colonial na região. Essas hipóteses e interpretações, juntamente com contribuições da história andina, etno-história e história da arte, fornecem novos insights sobre objetos identificados arqueologicamente como arte móvel e o possível significado de suas representações de acordo com os contextos de uso, ou função, determinados por registros arqueológicos e estudos das crônicas da época.
