Ww will see that this objective transformations were contemporary to changes in the subjective order of self perception and in the construction of the figure of the other, ending in totally new ways of defining identity. The history of the Hispanic-indigenous encounter can be interpreted as an ethnogenesis process through the slow transformation of the central reche groups in a new mapuche ethny, appearing as such in the second half of the XVIII century. Este trabajo aborda el tema de las reestructuraciones sociales, económicas y políticas que se produjeron entre los grupos reche del centro-sur de Chile como consecuencia del contacto plurisecular y polimorfo con los hispano-criollos. Veremos que esas transformaciones objetivas fueron contemporáneas de modificaciones en el orden subjetivo de la percepción de sí-mismo y en la construcción de la figura del otro, desembocando en formas totalmente nuevas de definición identitaria. De suerte que la historia del encuentro hispano-indígena puede ser interpretada como la historia de una etnogénesis a través de la lenta transformación de los grupo reche centrales en la nueva etnía mapuche que aparece como tal en la seguna mitad del siglo XVIII. Este artigo aborda a reestruturação social, econômica e política ocorrida entre os grupos Reche do centro-sul do Chile como resultado de um contato polimórfico e secular com os crioulos hispano-americanos. Veremos que essas transformações objetivas foram contemporâneas a modificações na ordem subjetiva da autopercepção e na construção da figura do outro, levando a formas inteiramente novas de definição identitária. Assim, a história do encontro hispano-indígena pode ser interpretada como a história de uma etnogênese por meio da lenta transformação dos grupos Reche centrais no novo grupo étnico Mapuche que emergiu como tal na segunda metade do século XVIII.
