El presente trabajo se basa en el análisis de expedientes judiciales criminales tramitados en la ciudad de San Miguel de Tucumán entre 1750 y 1810. a partir del abordaje del cuatrerismo o abigeato -el delito más común y extendido- se buscó acceder a las prácticas de los sectores subalternosen el ámbito rural. Se detalla el funcionamiento de la justicia colonialen las áreas rurales y luego se analizan las modalidades del cuatrerismo que presentan características disímiles.
