The functioning of colonial justice in rural areas is detailes and also two ways of cattle stealing with different features are presented.  El presente trabajo se basa en el análisis de expedientes judiciales criminales tramitados en la ciudad de San Miguel de Tucumán entre 1750 y 1810. a partir del abordaje del cuatrerismo o abigeato -el delito más común y extendido- se buscó acceder a las prácticas de los sectores subalternosen el ámbito rural.
