Nevertheless, both influenced republican Mexico. The purpose of this article is to observe how the creationof ayuntamientos in some town in the Huastecas didn’t respond to a political or social fact but to a military geography well known by the royal commanders so they could men, food, and territorial control. All those aspects also helped to the creat ion of the indigenous ayuntamientos where the territorial jurisdictions and local administrative policies were reshaped and the indigenous governments reduced. El análisis de la segunda década del siglo XIX, momento en que se dan las guerras insurgentes en la Nueva España y comienza la proliferación de ayuntamientos en las zonas rurales debido a la expedición de la Constitución gaditana, ha sido marcado por la historiografía mexicanista a partir de un análisis separado de ambos procesos, sin embargo, ambos influenciaron a las sociedades del México republicano. De esta manera el objetivo de este artículo es observar la manera en que la creación de ayuntamientos en algunos pueblos de las Huastecas, no respondió forzosamente a un hecho político o social sino a una geografía militar por parte de los comandantes realistas, con el fin de acceder a hombres, bastimentos y control de territorios.  Aspecto que no descarta las implicaciones del surgimiento del ayuntamiento en los pueblos de indios, donde se readecuaron las jurisdicciones territoriales y políticas-administrativas, además que planteó la reducción de los gobiernos indios.
