The proposed analysis will be carried out based on a series of archival records -Indian censuses- and aims to establish an ethnic-demographic panorama of the encomiendas of the region,  to provide their location and dispersion in said period and also reflect on some hypotheses for future research. El objetivo del trabajo es elaborar un cuadro de situación de la población indígena de los llanos tucumanos y el borde oriental de las sierras, incluyendo algunos valles de altura media -como Choromoros y Colalao- en el período que abarca desde fines del siglo XVII a principios del siglo XVIII y que denominaremos de “post-guerra”, debido a la finalización de la guerra diaguita-calchaquí que puso en jaque el dominio español en la región. El análisis propuesto se realizará en base a una serie de padrones de indios y apunta a establecer un panorama étnico-demográfico de las encomiendas de la región, brindar su ubicación y dispersión en dicho período y también a proporcionar algunas hipótesis para futuras investigaciones.   Sección Etnohistoria, Instituto de Ciencias Antropológicas.
