The involved strategies in the information seeking process (ISP) in complex activities are identified; it is established that the ISP activities combined themselves and are dynamically and recurrently influenced by each other; the ISP zones of intervention are identified; combined models are used to describe the ISP moments, and to verify the models application viability. Este artículo informa sobre un estudio exploratorio de un grupo de personas, graduadas en Literatura, que, durante un lapso prolongado de sus vidas, se dedican a investigar un tema para obtener el doctorado. Se identifican las estrategias involucradas en el proceso de búsqueda de información (PBI) en actividades complejas; se establece que las actividades del PBI se combinan y se influyen dinámica y recurrentemente; se identifican las zonas de intervención en el PBI; se utilizan modelos combinados para describir los momentos del PBI y verificar la viabilidad de su aplicación.
