A través de los inventarios de dos librerías de la Compañía de Jesús expropiadas en la Nueva Granada a raíz de su expulsión en 1767 (el Inventario de la Librería del Colegio de la Compañía de Jesús de Santa Fe de Antioquia, y el del Colegio de Santa Fe de Bogotá), realizamos un ejercicio descriptivo de dichas librerías atendiendo a tres aspectos: a la presencia de algunas significativas obras utilizadas con fines pedagógicos y espirituales que contemplaban una determinada práctica de lectura; a su decoración, concebida por los propios jesuitas dentro de un fuerte pensamiento contrarreformista; y a los sistemas de clasificación que adoptaron sus inventarios en consonancia con su desempeño de formación humanística y religiosa.
