Regarding the postal system, the main affectation was the interruption or collapse of the routes and the damming of the postal pieces, while in the field of telegraphy and radiotelegraphy the most frequent problem was the paralysis of the expansion plans in terms of infrastructure, in addition to the technological lag, the restrictions on messages and the censorship applied according to the positions assumed by the national government. The broadcasting service demonstrated its scope like never before and was consolidated as a mechanism for propagating the interests of the allies’ cause, although it was also subject to strict censorship and restrictions on free expression. The political and ideological confrontation that arose during both external wars and the position assumed by the country regarding them exerted a notable influence on the debate on internal politics and public security policy. El propósito de este trabajo está enfocado en examinar el impacto de la Primera y la Segunda Guerra Mundial en el sistema de comunicaciones de Colombia, específicamente en los servicios de correos, telégrafos y radiodifusión. En cuanto al sistema de correos, la principal afectación fue la interrupción o colapso de las rutas y el represamiento de las piezas postales, mientras que en el ramo de la telegrafía y la radiotelegrafía el problema más frecuente fue la parálisis de los planes de expansión en materia de infraestructura, además del rezago tecnológico, las restricciones en los mensajes y las censuras aplicadas en función de las posturas asumidas por el gobierno nacional. El servicio de radiodifusión demostró como nunca antes sus alcances y se consolidó como mecanismo de propagación de los intereses de la causa de los Aliados, aunque también fue objeto de una estricta censura y coartación de la libre expresión. El enfrentamiento político e ideológico que se suscitó durante ambas guerras y la posición asumida por el país frente a ellas ejercieron una notable influencia en el debate sobre la política interna y la política de seguridad pública.
