Sumario:The objective of this paper is to analyze if the Second World War brought about a change to the space assigned to the Argentine civil society (private companies, Argentine workers, and emigrated experts) in the National Defense. The alliance of the Armed Forces with the agricultural-export/industrial-import production model will be described. We are also interested in analyzing, during and after the war, the economic-geographic transformation operated by the substitution of imports of the light industries. This paper explores the hypothesis that World War II was a decisive event that allowed the State to shift the balance in favor of Argentine industrialization. The sources used are memoirs and proceedings of the Dirección General de Fabricaciones Militares, specialized works and newspapers.
