The alliance of the Armed Forces with the agricultural-export/industrial-import production model will be described. We are also interested in analyzing, during and after the war, the economic-geographic transformation operated by the substitution of imports of the light industries. This paper explores the hypothesis that World War II was a decisive event that allowed the State to shift the balance in favor of Argentine industrialization. The sources used are memoirs and proceedings of the Dirección General de Fabricaciones Militares, specialized works and newspapers. El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar si la Segunda Guerra Mundial evidenció en Argentina un cambio del espacio asignado a la sociedad civil (empresas privadas, obreros argentinos y expertos emigrados) en la Defensa nacional. Se investigará la alianza de las Fuerzas Armadas con el modelo productivo agroexportador-industrial importador. También nos interesa analizar, durante la guerra y en la posguerra, la transformación económico-geográfica operada por la sustitución de importaciones de industrias livianas. El artículo sostiene la hipótesis de que la Segunda Guerra Mundial fue un acontecimiento decisivo que permitió, desde el Estado, inclinar la balanza a favor de la industrialización argentina. Se utilizan como fuentes memorias y actas de la Dirección General de Fabricaciones Militares, cartas, trabajos especializados y periódicos.
